    Chipping In

The Blues have had 15 different goalscorers in the National League North this season. Ben McKenna was the 15th with his maiden Chester goal on Saturday at the Swansway. 17 different players have also aided their teammates with assists, including two academy players in Cain Noble (who set up Asante’s 2nd goal against Darlington) and Lloyd Marsh-Hughes (who teed up Gary Roberts in stoppage time at FC United).

Mani Dieseruvwe, who is back scoring goals in the National League with Salford, failed to score with the Blues during his loan spell but had two assists to his name (both for Dan Mooney to score) and also won the last minute penalty to complete Gary Roberts’ hat trick in the 3-2 Alfreton win in October.

    Home and Away

It’s no secret the Blues have found it tougher on the road this season than they have at the Deva. In fact, you’d say that the Swansway Chester Stadium has been a fortress this term. They sit joint second in the NLN home table, with just two defeats this season against Altrincham and Curzon Ashton. They average more than two goals a game, with 35 strikes in 17 matches. Only league leaders Chorley have picked up more home points this term.

However, away from home has been the achilles heel in 2018/19. Only bottom of the table Nuneaton Borough are worse travellers. The Blues have just three wins from 17 this term on the road. However, all the away victories have come with the added bonus of a clean sheet! The wins came at Curzon Ashton (3-0), Boston United (2-0) and FC United (2-0). They have the opportunity to turn three into four when Chester FC travel to Darlington this weekend. Come on you Blues!
