WOMENS REPORT | Chester FC Women 6-0 Burscough Ladies
Chester FC Women got their new league campaign underway with a convincing win at the Deva Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Five of the six goals came in a dominant opening 45 of the new season for Martin Fitzsimons’ side; as his first game as Manager ended in victory.
It was Lucy Adderley who got the Blues off to a flyer – heading home from a corner inside the opening five minutes of the game.
Moments later it was two. The ever-dangerous Izzy Crooks ran in behind on the right channel before setting back an inch-perfect pass to Rachel Kelly – who found the top corner of the net.
Crooks – maker of the second goal – was on the scoresheet on the quarter of an hour mark for the rampant hosts. She cooly finished beyond Deary after making a fantastic run in behind the defence.
The fourth goal arrived after the half hour mark – and the fifth was to follow just two minutes later.
Firsltly, Rachel Kelly’s cutback was set up by Crooks once again, as Abi France found the net. Then, goal number five was scored by Adderley – her second of the game – as she nodded in at the near post from a corner.
The one-way traffic continued in the second half, but there was only to be one more goal in this encounter. With ten minutes remaining, the excellent Izzy Crooks saw her effort deflect into the back of the Burscough net.
A fantastic start for the Blues to the new season – and thank you to all who attended!
