MATCH REPORT | Chester 3-1 Salford City XI
Danny Elliott added to his pre-season goal tally last night, scoring in a 3-1 behind closed doors victory over a Salford City XI.
Elliott struck early on as George Glendon drove forward, and slipped in John Johnston on the right who provided the assist across goal for the forward to slide it into the net.
The Blues had chances to extend the scoreline, with Johnston sidefooting wide of the mark from Joel Taylor’s low cross – and Elliott also firing just past the same post a few minutes later.
There were chances at the other end, as Louis Gray made a fantastic stop on eight minutes – before the rebound from Salford struck the post. The Ammies did get themselves level on 33 minutes when the Blues failed to clear and the loose ball was struck home.
Chester created plenty of chances in the second half – with Elliott denied by the Salford keeper in stunning fashion. However substitute George Waring was to come off the bench and grab a quickfire brace.
First, the big frontman bundled home on 66 minutes following a corner. He wrapped it up on 80 minutes at the end of a nice move – sidefooting into the net after Jamie Morgan had won the ball back – exchanged passes with Johnston – and then provided an inch perfect cutback.
Everyone at Chester FC would like to thank Salford City for providing the opposition, and wish them the very best for the season.
