MATCH REPORT | Curzon Ashton 2-3 Chester FC Women
Chester FC Women kicked off the new campaign with an exciting 3-2 victory at Curzon Ashton in North West Women’s Regional Football League Division One South.
Martin Fitzsimons’ team were deserved winners at Tameside Stadium but the hosts made the Blues work hard for the three points.
Chester took an early lead when Izzy Crooks finished off a smart attacking move to make it 1-0 with five minutes on the clock and that was how it remained until half-time despite both sides having chances.
Ashleigh Bullock doubled the advantage on 66 minutes but Curzon hit back almost immediately to keep themselves in touch, however an excellent counter attack restored Chester’s two goal lead in the 72nd minute with Bullock netting her second of the game to make it 3-1.
Curzon pulled another goal back with seven minutes remaining to make for a tense finish but the Blues defence held firm to ensure a winning start to the season.
