FRIENDLY REPORT | TNS 4-2 Chester
Chester visited The New Saints of the JD Cymru Premier last night for a behind closed doors friendly at Park Hall.
The hosts ran out winners with all six goals coming in the second half. Blues Joint Bosses Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley put the practice match to use but trying out a 3-5-2 system during the game.
Following a goalless opening 45, the Managers made eight changes at the break. TNS took the lead on 64 minutes through Ben Clark, before a brace from Danny Elliott saw Chester leading with ten minutes to go.
Nevertheless, a Greg Draper double and an injury time strike from Leo Smith sealed the win for the home team.
Jonno had this to say following the game: “It was a really worthwhile workout for us against a sharp and fit full-time team who’ve been playing sides against the likes of Liverpool and Burnley.
“We experimented with a different formation just to be able to get everyone who has been fit and training at least 45 mins. There was some tired legs but as usual we played some really good stuff.
“Danny took both his goals really well and who would have thought JJ would be our new holding midfielder!”
