PREVIEW | Gateshead vs Chester

Chester return to action this weekend for a third successive away game in the National League North.

Two weeks ago, an important 2-0 victory at Guiseley made it four unbeaten for Steve Watson’s side. Declan Weeks’ sizzling first half strike was the difference until the 88th minute, when Darren Stephenson sealed the win.

It gave the Blues their tenth victory of the season, their third on the road and ten points from a possible twelve to end a productive March.

April begins with a trip to Gateshead, who have only just been nudged off the top of the table by nearest rivals Brackley Town in midweek. It is looking like a two horse race for the title, and the Heed will want to get back to winning ways after two matches without success.

For the Blues on a team news front, Danny Livesey is recovering well from his collarbone injury, but this game is expected to come too soon for him. Kevin Roberts is also a doubt due to a groin strain. They do though welcome back Rob Apter, the Blackpool loanee has missed the last three games after being on international duty with Scotland U19’s.

Kick off on Saturday afternoon is 3pm.
