CFCW REPORT: Chester 6-1 Hindley Juniors
Chester made it five wins in a row in all competitions in emphatic fashion, beating Hindley to move up to fourth in the table.
They made the perfect start to the afternoon, taking the lead after just five minutes when Sarah Redman fired home – before they quickly doubled the advantage on 16 minutes when Molly Wood kept up her impressive scoring run with another goal.
Redman’s excellent strike on 34 minutes from distance saw the Blues go into the break with a three-goal advantage – which could have been more but Wood was denied by the post following a curling effort.
Hindley pulled a goal back ten minutes after the break, after they were awarded a questionable penalty, which was won and then converted by Kate Kerr.
But Chester continued to plug away in search of a fourth as Wood and Rach Lloyd both went close – before Wood was then denied by a sharp double save from Celine Collins.
Nevertheless, Wood stole the show late on with a treble in the space of ten second half minutes to real put the seal on a fantastic victory.
The forward made it four on 69 minutes when she converted a rebound after initially hitting the post from close range – before then completing her second hat-trick in two games when sub Imogen Paul found her with an excellent pass to convert.
Her fourth, Chester’s sixth, arrived on 79 minutes when Wood charged down a kick from the ‘keeper and saw the ball rebound in – making it ten goals in four games for the forward and rounding off a convincing afternoon in the sunshine.
