Matty Williams pens new one-year deal!

Chester Football Club are thrilled to announce that Matty Williams has put pen to paper on a new one-year deal at the Deva Stadium!

The 23-year-old defender has committed to the Blues for the 2024/25 campaign – extending his stay with the club into a fourth season.

‘Willo’ arrived after impressive during a Trial Event in the summer of 2021 and was named CFU Player of the Season in his first campaign with Chester.

Quickly making himself an important and senior part of the defensive line, he made 44 appearances in 22/23 and then 47 appearances last term.

He made it a century of appearances for Chester FC back in November during the 1-1 draw with Rushall Olympic.

Manager Calum McIntyre said: “Matty has been a really popular player at the club and an important part of the group and I’m really pleased we have secured his services for another season.

“Like all young players, Matty has ambitions to play further up the pyramid. I hope this something he can do with us.

“He is someone I enjoy working with, have enjoyed seeing develop and believe has an important role to play in the next 12 months.”
