Digital Scoreboard installed ahead of Farsley game!

Our brand-new Digital Scoreboard at the Deva Stadium is now installed ahead of tomorrow’s game!

Supplied by Betta-LED, the Scoreboard has been funded at no cost to the club courtesy of some remarkable gestures.

Pauline Meakins, a lifelong supporter and Chester exile, has committed a significant donation to cover the majority of the cost of the Scoreboard. The remainder of the amount has been very kindly covered by the Hipkiss Family and the Away Travel team.

The Scoreboard can be found in the South-West corner of the Stadium, and will be in action for the first time tomorrow. We have an exciting range of advertising opportunities for local companies to showcase their services through video and images on our new Digital Scoreboard. Please email albert.davies@chesterfc.com for more information.

The story of our new scoreboard started on a very wet dark February evening at Peterborough Sports last season. The shining light in all the night gloom was their scoreboard and it looked even better when Chester equalised!

So, the seed was sown and with the enormous help of Director Steve Jones, newly voted CFU Board member and Pauline’s brother-in-law, the search was on!

Pauline said: “Having been fortunate enough to have come into a little inheritance, it got me thinking that one day I would probably want to leave my own legacy to the football club that has brought me so much pleasure (and the occasional heartache) over the years.

“But how good would it be to actually enjoy my own legacy while I was still living?!

“So, with the help of General Manager, Albert Davies, who helped assess various options and Nick Philipson advising on the positioning of our scoreboard, a choice was made and it started to become a reality!

“Key to all this was that it should not just be a scoreboard, but provide an extra revenue stream for the running of the club through sponsorships, advertising and just general messages flashing up.

“The screen can be moved too so can hopefully be put to good use during future Euro and World Cup tournaments in the Fanzone.

“In time, we hope the screen can be increased in size especially when the revenue starts coming in as we hope climb the leagues!

“I would like to say a grateful thanks to Steve and Albert who have helped so much and made my dream come true as have our scoreboard suppliers Betta-LED who have been great to work with.

“I would never have done this either without the encouragement of all my family and especially my sister Lyn who has followed Chester with me through thick and thin since our Dad took us both to a match at Sealand Road all those years ago!

“Last but definitely not least, a huge thanks to the Away Travel supporters and the Hipkiss family who have topped up the donation to make sure it could be installed at no extra cost to the club.

“This is such a brilliant gesture from the best fans in the world and just shows again that we’re all in this together! I hope, in doing this, other fans may want to have their own dream come true too and provide a living legacy for their beloved football club.

“There’s nothing stopping any supporter living their dream in helping Chester Football Club get the success the club deserves. All of us!”

From everyone at Chester Football Club, we’d like to say a huge thank you to Pauline for her incredible donation – as well as the Hipkiss Family, Richard and Julie and the Away Travel Team for making the Scoreboard become a reality for Our Club.
