Alsager Town 1-1 Chester (CFC win 3-2 on pens)
Chester advanced in the Cheshire Senior Cup with a penalty shootout victory over Alsager Town.
The Blues, led by Academy Manager Mike Allcock, was made up of ten Under 19’s outfield players – plus Cam Mason in goal who made his first appearance back from injury since August.
After a quiet first half, the visitors almost took the lead when right-back Mikey Lawson saw his effort tipped on to the crossbar.
The Seals took the lead on 79 minutes. After Luca Boon had hit the post with an initial effort, the ball was crossed back in from the left and Book took his second chance – nodding home for the opener.
Alsager took it to penalties though, equalising late on when a cross from the right side was head in by Kieran Hamm.
In the shootout, the hosts took a two-goal lead after two pens apiece with Boon and Oskar Rosenblatt both failing to convert.
However, Mason saved each of the next three Bullets spot kicks, while Corey Muirhead, Henry Briscoe and then Mason himself converted from 12 yards to see the youngsters through.
