Irrigation system upgraded at the Deva Stadium!
Work on a new irrigation system at the Deva Stadium has now been completed, as preparations are in full swing for the 2025/26 campaign.
Replacing the old sprinklers, which were fitted when the ground was first built back in 1992, has been done alongside our annual pitch renovation work.
The tender was won by Irrigation Control, who fitted a new system with increased reliability and efficiency. The water is now applied uniformly ensuring consistency across the playing surface via 24 sprinklers as opposed to the original 18.
Furthermore, the control of the system is now undertaken via a decoder control system incorporating a local remote-control unit, whereas the original was via a solid-state control system utilizing multi wires to each sprinkler and valve position which was unreliable and didn’t allow for the system to be set up accurately and effectively.
A large amount of the work was grant funded courtesy of the Premier League Stadium Fund (PLSF).
The Premier League Stadium Fund awards capital grants to clubs to support improvement of their stadium facilities for players, supporters and officials.
Funding is available to clubs who play in Steps 1 to 6 of the National League System, Tiers 1 to 4 of the Women’s Football Pyramid and clubs promoted into the English Football League.
