First Senior Blues Meeting Of 25/26!

    The first Senior Blues meeting of 25/26 has been pencilled in at the start of August.

    Meeting Details

    When – Friday 1st August, 10:30.

    Where – THE CESTRIAN, DEVA STADIUM, CH1 4LT

    Who – Speakers include: CFU Chair Kieron Sheil, CFC Women’s Manager Kalvin Williams, General Manager Albert Davies and First Team Coach/Academy Manager Mike Allcock

    CFU Chairman Kieron Sheil will give an overview of the progress made last season and the challenges for 25/26; team manager Kalvin Williams will talk about Chester Women; General Manager Albert Davies, will update us on all the preparations for the coming season, and finally Academy Manager and Academy Manager/First Team Coach Mike Allcock will deal with the playing side. 

    For anyone not already aware, the Senior Blues are a dedicated group of over 55’s who have sufficient time and interest to meet in the Cestrian at 10:30 on the first Friday of the month from August to May.

    The monthly meetings generally feature updates from CFU Board members and Club officials as well as a varied range of speakers.

    Previous guests from the football world include Football Supporters Assn Head of Community Ownership Andy Walsh, sports broadcaster Jonathan Legard, Premier League referee Rob Jones and the ubiquitous football finance expert Kieron Maguire.

    Many former players including Stuart Rimmer, Carl Ruffer, Eddie Bishop, Brynley Jones and John Kelly have also been welcome guests.

    Other speakers have covered topics as diverse as diving for gold off the coast of Anglesey, sled dog training, birds in your garden, drugs in sport and Medieval Chester.  

    Day Trips

    The Senior Blues have day trips that have included tours of local Premier League grounds, RHS Bridgewater, the Rhydymwyn Tunnels, the BBC studios in Salford and the Imperial War and Football Museums in Manchester.

    Members have also visited places as diverse as the Llangollen Railway, the Liver Buildings, flower shows, the National Memorial Arboretum and the Somme Battlefields. 

    Meetings

    Meetings start at 10.30am and are well attended with generally between 50 and 70 members present.

    Tea, coffee and biscuits are served and there is a raffle and merchandise for sale.

    All monies raised is for the benefit of Chester FC, with the principal focus being on the Academy via the Senior Blues Youth Foundation, which has contributed around £35,000 to date.

    The Senior Blues have also raised significant funds to facilitate the installation of hand rails in the East and West stands and the provision of new goal nets.

    New members

    New members are very welcome with membership costing only £10 a year.

    Memberships can be renewed in person at the August meeting. We hope to provide information on alternative methods of renewal in due course.
