First Team Squad donate FA Cup bonus to Cestrians 1885!

The Chester FC First Team Squad have decided to donate their Emirates FA Cup bonuses from Saturday’s win to Cestrians 1885.

Following our late victory against Stalybridge Celtic over the weekend, and as recognition of the magnificent Seals support so far this campaign, the players quickly made the decision to contribute their winnings to the supporters group.

The Cestrians 1885 supporters group follow the team home and away, and all money raised goes towards flags and banners for displays – which helps to generate a magnificent atmosphere on the Harry Mac.

This is the second time the Blues First Team Squad have donated their bonuses to C1885, following on from two years ago after our victory at Tadcaster Albion.

Club Captain Declan Weeks said: “As a group of players, we are all aware of how unique this football club is.

“You spend your hard earned money, invest it into the football club, then on top of that travel up and down the country in unbelievable numbers, week in, week out.

“It is hard to put into words how thankful we are towards you all. You really do make the difference.

“With this in mind, it’s important to us that when we get the opportunity to give back, we try our best to do so.

“After Saturday’s result we have decided to donate our FA Cup bonus towards the Cestrians 1885 Group. They have been a massive driving force behind building the connection between the fans and us players over the last few years and we hope this helps you to continue the amazing work are doing.

“Lastly, on behalf of every player. Thank you so much to every one of you for your continued support. It doesn’t go unnoticed. Up the Seals!”

Manager Calum McIntyre added: “This is a small gesture on behalf of the players and staff to thank the supporters for the backing they give the team home and away.

“Cestrians 1885 play a unique role in creating a proper atmosphere inside the Deva Stadium and the players and staff wanted to support their work.

“The connection between the supporters and their football team is particularly important at Chester and this gesture shows the players truly recognise the importance of that and the role the supporters can play in any success.”
