Report: Chester Women 5-1 AFC Crewe Women

Chester FC Women make it six consecutive wins after a dominant 5-1 victory over AFC Crewe at home.

The Seals took an early lead at the Deva Stadium when Sasha Johnson fled down the wing into acres of space and powered the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal.

The visitors bounced back almost immediately as a free-kick taken from around 25-yards out was curled into the top corner past Ava Elkerton in the home goal.

Nevertheless, the Blues fought hard to regain the lead as the ball from Lola Smith’s original strike found its way to Sophia O’Neill, who fired it home calmly.

Smith was next to put her name on the scoreboard as she caught AFC Crewe’s keeper off the line, tapping the ball effortlessly into goal from close-range.

Chester had another opportunity to score just before the end of the first half, but Ciara Lee’s shot was miscued and landed directly into the keeper’s hands, as the Blues went into the break with a two-goal lead.

However, 12 minutes into the second period, Smith sought glory again for the home side when she knocked Lee’s initial shot into the back of the net.

The chaos of the game continued, as Kalvin Williams’ side grabbed their final goal of the match from Sawyer Burchill, who glided the ball into the bottom corner from inside the penalty box.

The four-goal advantage ensured that Kalvin Williams’ side earned their sixth consecutive win and moved them up into third in the league table.

    Scorers: Sasha Johnson 4′, Sophia O’Neill 29′, Lola Smith 36′ & 59′, Sawyer Burchill 76′
