Preview: Spennymoor Town (A)

The Blues travel to The Brewery Field tonight for our rearranged Enterprise National League North clash with Spennymoor Town.

The original fixture between the pair was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch in the second-half back in November, with the Seals two goals up after strikes from Dylan Mottley-Henry and Pat Jones.

    The Opposition

The Moors’ form has dipped in recent months following a brilliant start to their 25/26 campaign.

A four-game winning run helped Graeme Lee’s side to a start of seven wins in 11 outings, a streak that included victories over Bedford Town, Southport, and Merthyr Town.

However, the 13 encounters that followed have garnered just two wins, over Peterborough Sports and Marine, a run that has seen the club move five points below the top seven with 22 games remaining.

Spennymoor have become perennial play-off challengers over recent campaigns, with the club now competing in their ninth successive season in the sixth tier.

    The Gaffer

Moors boss Graeme Lee is now over two years into his stint at The Brewery Field, following a switch from Marske United in 2024.

Lee has led the club to within touching distance of the play-off spots in his previous campaigns with Spennymoor, after finishing in ninth, just one point behind the top seven, in both 23/24 and 24/25.

Aged 47, his playing career saw him feature for the likes of Hartlepool United, Sheffield Wednesday, Doncaster Rovers, and Bradford City.

    One To Watch

The Moors’ talisman, Glen Taylor, already has 13 goals to his name so far term, in what is now his 11th successive campaign at The Brewery Field.

A number of Player of the Year awards and over 200 goals have come for the club in that time, as well as back-to-back promotions from the eighth tier to the sixth tier between 2015-17.

The club captain scored eight goals in nine encounters earlier in the campaign between early September and mid-November, including a brace against Leamington, and strikes against Bedford Town, Southport, Merthyr Town, Curzon Ashton, Peterborough Sports and Alfreton Town
