BREAKING | Sam Hornby arrives as Nathan Vaughan and Conor Mitchell depart
Chester FC are pleased to announce the loan signing of goalkeeper Sam Hornby from EFL League Two side Port Vale.
Sam has made five appearances for the Valiants this season – having arrived in June from Burton Albion.
The 22-year-old stopper had a very successful loan spell at Brackley in 2015-16, being named their player of the season. The 16-17 campaign followed with another impressive loan spell for Sam – at beaten National League North Play-Off Semi Finalists Kidderminster.
Welcome to Chester FC, Sam!
As Sam arrives we say goodbye to fellow goalkeepers Conor Mitchell and Nathan Vaughan who have left the club.
Mitchell joined on-loan from Burnley on the day of our opening League fixture against Fylde – and went on to make eight appearances for Chester. We would like to thank Burnley for their cooperation throughout this loan spell – and indeed Conor for his professionalism and commitment during his time with us, we look forward to him going on to achieve great things in the future.
Nathan Vaughan leaves the club without making an appearance at the Swansway.
Nevertheless, his experience and professionalism around the dressing room has been a positive factor to all at Chester Football Club throughout his short time here and we are grateful that he stepped in at a time when we were faced with a mini crisis in that department.
We wish both players the very best in their future endeavours.
