BREAKING | Calum McIntyre appointed First Team Manager of Runcorn Linnets
We are pleased to confirm that Calum McIntyre has today been appointed as First Team Manager of Runcorn Linnets, who play in the Northern Premier League Division One North West.
Calum will undertake this role in conjunction with his position at Chester FC – where he will remain as Head of Academy, a post he has held since 2016.
The 26-year-old experienced Management in senior football back in 2018 when he took Caretaker charge of the Blues for the final three games of the National League 17/18 season – winning his last match away at Barrow.
McIntyre has overseen many Academy success stories, with the likes of Tom Crawford and James Jones going on to earn England C call ups and making EFL moves after graduating from the youth setup.
Also Sam Hughes, who was eventually sold for a record fee to 2016 Premier League Champions Leicester City.
Runcorn Linnets ended their NPL Division One North West campaign in 10th during 2019/20, with 38 points from 27 games before the season was declared null and void due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Blues Chairman Andrew Morris stated: “Calum has had increased involvement with the first team over the last couple of years which alongside his achievements at youth level are testament to his hard work and dedication.
“I am sure he will bring Runcorn Linnets every success in the coming season. He undertakes this role with the best wishes and support of everyone associated with the Club and we believe this opportunity will benefit him and help him develop further as a coach and manager which our Academy will also benefit from in the long term.”
