BREAKING | Chester FC to sign Liam Edwards!

Chester FC are delighted to announce that we have agreed a deal to sign highly rated centre-back Liam Edwards!

The 25-year-old is an exciting new addition to Calum McIntyre’s squad and has put pen to paper on a deal from 1st August 2022, although will link up with the Blues from the start of pre-season.

Edwards joins us from EFL League One side Bolton Wanderers, having impressed on-loan last season in the National League North with Southport – his second spell on a temporary basis with the Sandgrounders.

From Crewe, Liam started his career at Stoke City – before moving to the Trotters and being named their U23’s Captain. He progressed to make six senior appearances in the third tier for Bolton.

“I am absolutely delighted to get Liam on board,” said the Blues boss Calum McIntyre.

“He has a real pedigree with his experiences and background at clubs further up the pyramid, but equally has a significant number of games under his belt at this level.

“We were really clear that we wanted to add a central defender and Liam ticks every single box in terms of profile.

“Equally, his enthusiasm for what we are going to do this season at Chester came through very early in our conversations.”
