BREAKING | Dan Mooney joins on loan from Fleetwood Town

Chester FC are delighted to announce the loan signing of forward Dan Mooney from League One side Fleetwood Town.

Mooney, who turned 19 earlier this week, has arrived at the Swansway Chester Stadium on a long loan until 2019.

The Wales Under 19 international had loan stints at Bamber Bridge and Ashton United last term – and was part of squad of the latter that won promotion to the National League North alongside fellow new signings Dominic Smalley and John Pritchard.

Speaking to ChesterFC.com on the signing, Joint-Manager Anthony Johnson said: “Dan is someone we were aware of last season whilst on loan at Bamber Bridge and then at Ashton United.

“He played a massive part in both clubs promotions, so even at his age he has experienced the highs and expectations of winning.

“He gives us balance to the squad as a naturally left footed player but is more than capable with his right as well. He’s another exciting, young player that will have the supporters on the edge of their seats.

“We would like to say a massive thanks to Joey Barton and Steve Eyre at Fleetwood for inviting us to watch their behind closed doors friendly on Tuesday which Dan played in.”

    Welcome to Chester FC, Dan!
