BREAKING | Joe Smith joins Ashton Athletic on loan

Goalkeeper Joe Smith has joined Ashton Athletic on loan for the 2022/23 campaign.

Ashton Athletic are gearing up for another season in the North West Counties Premier Division after finishing 18^th last term.

Teenage ‘keeper Smith signed his first senior deal with the Blues earlier in the summer.

He is Chester-born and first joined the Blues in 2013 as an Under-10. Having progressed through the Academy, Joe featured in the senior squad on several occasions during 2021/22.

Blues boss Calum McIntyre had this to say: “This is a good opportunity for Jiff to take steps into senior football.

“He is obviously going to be training with our first team three times a week but it’s vital he is getting game time in a senior setting.

“We feel this is a good fit for all parties and look forward to seeing Jiff progress as the season goes on.”
