BREAKING | Louis Gray joins Chester FC on a permanent basis

Chester Football Club are pleased to announce that goalkeeper Louis Gray has joined the club on a one-year deal.

The keeper, who turned 25 last week, originally joined the Blues on a loan basis from Carlisle United back in February.

He made one appearance in the league, and one in the Cheshire Senior Cup before the season was curtailed. Gray also featured in the Play-Off Eliminator defeat at Altrincham last month.

Speaking to ChesterFC.com, Louis said: “I’m delighted to be back.

“I spoke to the Gaffers right through lockdown and they’d made it clear they wanted me for the play-offs should they go ahead.

“Obviously it hurt seeing Altrincham go up after they beat us, it shows the fine margins of the play-offs, but Bern and Jonno wanted me to stay and with such a great group of lads too – it will be good for us to keep the core of players from last season.

“We’ve got a great chance this season. The Gaffers have been great with me, and it’s one the best groups of players I’ve ever worked with.

“I can’t wait to get going.”

Gray started his career at Wrexham, before being signed by Premier League side Everton back in 2015.

Louis featured for the Toffees in their Checkatrade Trophy games against Notts County and Mansfield Town in the group stages of the competition during the 2017/18 season.

Following the expiration of his contract at Goodison Park he joined up with Carlisle back in 2018.

    Welcome back, Louis!
