CFCW Preview: AFC Stockport Lionesses (a)

Chester FC Women’s attentions turn to cup competition this weekend as they prepare to travel away to face AFC Stockport Lionesses in the First Round of Cheshire FA County Cup.

The Seals recorded a fifth consecutive win in all competitions last Sunday following a convincing 6-1 home league win against Hindley Juniors.

A brace from Sarah Redman and four goals from red hot Chester forward Molly Wood made it a third consecutive win in the league and kept the Seals in fourth place, just three points behind leader’s Wythenshawe

Chester forward Wood’s purple patch in front of goal shows no sign of ending anytime soon. Following the four goals last week, the forward has now scored 10 goals in her last four games and has scored in four consecutive matches in all competitions.

Sunday’s hosts AFC Stockport currently ply their trade in Division Two of the Greater Manchester Women’s Football League. The side come into this weekend’s clash on the back of a 2-1 win against Leigh Geneis in The League Cup.

AFC Stockport currently find themselves in 5th place in Division Two having picked up six points from their opening five league games so far this season.
