CFCW Preview: Wythenshawe (a)

It’s 1st against 3rd this weekend, as Chester FC Women travel away to face league leaders Wythenshawe Women looking to close the gap on the top two.

The Blues return action this weekend following a midweek break off, due to their league match against Northwich Vixens being postponed

Prior to the postponement, Chester recorded a 7-0 victory last time out against Runcorn Linnets to register their first win in four matches in all competitions.

A hattrick from both Molly Wood and Emily Jones, plus a late goal from Ellie Bradley ensured Chester took maximum points and kept in touch with league leaders Wythenshawe ahead of this weekend.

Sunday’s hosts and league leaders Wythenshawe come in this weekend’s game on the back of a midweek 2-1 against FC St Helens, a win that saw them restore their eight point lead at the top. The Manchester outfit are currently unbeaten in their last six games, scoring a staggering forty-nine goals in the process.

The Ammies handed Chester their first home defeat of the season in the reverse fixture back in September, edging a seven goal thriller with a late injury time winner.
