CFCW REPORT: Chester 4-2 Mossley Hill Athletic
The Blues recorded their seventh successive league win, and returned to second in the table, with an entertaining victory over Mossley Hill.
Martin Fitzsimons’ side went into the break a goal up, as top scorer Molly Wood crashed in a fantastic free kick midway through the half.
It was almost two before the interval as Evie Halliwell was played through on goal following a quick counter attack, but she fired her shot over the bar.
Seconds after the restart though, Wood doubled hers and Chester’s tally when she lobbed the goalkeeper to make it a perfect start to the second 45.
Mossley Hill pulled one back on 74 minutes, before a matter of moments later the excellent Charlotte Randles made a brilliant charge up the pitch and then converted to restore the Blues’ two-goal cushion.
Once again on 89 minutes, the visitors made it a nervy ending as a cross from the left was turned home. Nevertheless, Wood made it yet another hat-trick and truly sealed the win in stoppage time with a clinical finish from Emma Gray’s pass.
The Blues remain six points behind leaders Wythenshawe as the league takes a break before resuming in January.
