CFCW Report: FC St Helens 1-0 Chester
Chester FC Women were eliminated from the Adobe Women’s FA Cup on Sunday with a narrow defeat at FC St Helens.
Defeat at the final Qualifying Round stage of the competition equals the Blues’ best run in the competition since reformation, as they fell just short of reaching the competition proper for the very first time.
Chester were on top in the opening 45, with Emma Gray firing over from Kim Sands’ cross, before Ciara Lee being denied by the ‘keeper after going through on goal.
Gray went close again at the start of the second half, with Rach Lloyd also missing the target with a free kick from distance.
But the hosts, who are flying high in the Blues’ division, got their winner with 14 minutes to go to advance into the First Round Proper.
