CFCW Report: Pilkington 1-3 Chester
Chester FC Women made it five wins on the spin and advanced into the final qualifying round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup with victory yesterday at Pilkington.
The Blues kept up their impressive run of form, following up 1QR victory at Buxton with another excellent away win at Pilkington in 2QR to take them to within one win of the First Round Proper for the first time ever.
Once again the Seals started their latest game on the front foot, with Lucy Adderley glancing just wide from an Ash Bullock corner.
Still within the first quarter of an hour, Ellie Bradley’s effort hit the side netting and Erin Parr was denied by the hosts’ goalkeeper.
Nevertheless, Chester got their deserved breakthrough on 24 minutes when the in-form Bullock fired home just inside the box.
But the hosts responded on the half hour mark to level up the scores at Ruskin Drive – Pilkington coming into this game having won all of their matches so far this campaign.
Kalvin Williams’ side were back in front before the interval though, as an inch perfect cross from Cindy Tweedle was converted by Bullock for her fourth goal in two matches.
Chester looked to increase their advantage in the second half, with both Parr and Tweedle going close, before Captain Kim Sands fired inches wide with ten minutes to play.
The tie was wrapped up though late on, as Emma Gray came off the bench to coolly convert the third goal and saw the Blues advance and take home the prize money of £3,000.
