CFCW Report: Poulton Vics 1-3 Chester
Chester FC Women produced a stunning performance to end Poulton Vics’ 14 game winning streak in the NWWRFL Division One South.
League leaders Poulton, who hadn’t dropped a point this season prior to Sunday, conceded three to the Blues in the first half hour which set the tone for a brilliant away win for Kalvin Williams’ side.
Ellie Bradley opened the scoring on 16 minutes, she met a cross into the middle with a looping header which found the back of the net.
Just ten minutes later forward Chloe Davis went on a promising run before firing home at the near post to double the advantage.
And then on the half hour mark it was three as Lexie Bordessa’s free kick from distance floated over the ‘keeper and into the net to cap off a sensational opening 45.
Despite the expected pressure from the runaway leaders in the second half, the Seals managed the game brilliantly and by the time Poulton got one back on 87 minutes with a good strike from outside the box, it was too late to stage a comeback.
An excellent display from Chester, who now move on to back-to-back games at home in the Alliance Cup vs FC United of Manchester on the 9th before facing Stockport County in the Cheshire Cup Semi Final on the 16th.
