Chester 0-0 FC Halifax Town

Chester maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 0-0 draw against FC Halifax Town at the Swansway Chester Stadium.

It was Halifax who came the closest to taking the lead in the first half, with a back-post header from Matt Kosylo which was cleared off the line. However, both teams struggled to get any type of grip on the game, with a couple of half chances from either side dominating the opening minutes of the encounter.

The Blues started the second half much brighter. Ross Hannah managed to weave his way into box and find Andy Halls who overlapped the forward down the right wing, but the full-back could only fire the ball just over the top left-hand side of the Halifax goal.

The Shaymen responded with a few efforts on goal, one noticeably from substitute Josh MacDonald. The winger raced past Lathaniel Rowe-Turner down the right flank to launch the ball onto the crossbar.

The visitors continued to pile on the pressure and came close to taking the lead, though Nathan Hotte. The midfielder made his way into the box after picking up a pass from Dixon, but was unable to get his shot past the keeper from a tight angle.

However, it was the home side who ended the game on a brighter note. Substitute James Akintunde came close from short range in the final 5 minutes of the game, which nearly gave Chester their first 3 points of the new season.

Unfortunately, the Blues couldn’t get the breakthrough to get their first win of the season, but nevertheless, it is a point gained and another solid performance from Jon McCarthy’s men.
