Connell Rawlinson named Club Captain!

We can confirm that Connell Rawlinson has been named the new Chester FC Club Captain.

The 33-year-old central defender joined his hometown club for a second spell and has been a key figure at the Deva Stadium this term.

Speaking after being appointed Club Captain, Connell said: “I am incredibly proud to Captain the Club.

“I’ve always been a leader on the pitch and in the changing room over the years but never got the pleasure of captaining a club.

“To be able to do it for my hometown Club is an extremely proud moment and I’m hoping we can have a really strong finish for the rest of the season.”

Blues boss Calum McIntyre said: “Having taken the armband ten times since the start of November, Connell’s leadership has been an important part of our recent form.

“His experience combined with his character and personality makes him a real leader in our Dressing Room. He’s been great since he came to the Club to the summer, on and off the pitch and I’m really pleased to name him as Captain.

“When you add where he is from and his connection to the old club, this is a really significant appointment as captain for the remainder of the season

“The current group now has a Captain who is one of the two players who progressed through the Youth set up at Chester City.

“Our Assistant Manager came through the ranks at Chester City in the 1980s at the start of a career that saw him progress to the Premier League.

“Our most recent Matchday squad named three Academy Graduates in the Starting XI with another on the bench.

“This is a really unique group and one that want to do everything they can to get the promotion the supporters crave.”

    Congratulations, Connell!
