Declan Weeks breaks all-time appearance record!
Yesterday’s game against Chorley saw Declan Weeks break the all-time appearance record for Chester Football Club since reformation!
The record, previously held by Craig Mahon, stood at 239 until the contest with the Magpies, in which Declan adorned the Chester shirt for the 240th time and scored a beautiful volleyed effort to take his total goal tally up to 31.
The 30-year-old initially put pen-to-paper at the Deva Stadium in September 2020 and made an immediate impact in midfield areas, starting in every league game during his maiden campaign that was curtailed in in mid-January.

A series of outstanding performances during his second season earned Declan two accolades, both the Players’ Player of the Season and the Away Travel Player of the Season, as well as an impressive tally of nine goals from 39 league appearances.
The midfielder first took the Chester armband during the 2022/23 campaign following George Glendon season-ending injury, and Weeks stepped up in superb fashion, leading a team that garnered 84 points and reached a play-off semi-final.

His performances earned him a selection in the Vanarama National League North Team of the Season, and saw him pick up both the Players’ Player of the Season, for the second successive year, as well as the CFU Player of the Season.
Last campaign, in which the Blues reached the play-off final, was another memorable one for Dec, with his tally of 19 assists in 43 league appearances proving crucial as the Blues ended the campaign on 87 points.

He also secured another spot in the National League North team of the season, moved past the 200-appearance mark alongside Kevin Roberts, and netted a fantastic, volleyed effort against Kidderminster Harriers in the play-off semi-final that secured a famous victory at Aggborough.
An outstanding achievement – Congratulations on the milestone, Dec!
