FA Youth Cup Report: Chester 4-0 Liversedge

It was a fantastic night for the young Seals at the Deva Stadium as they earned a 4-0 success over Liversedge!

It was an entertaining start down CH1 with both sides forcing chances, the away number nine with the first that was denied by a diving stop from Cal Mackin.

The Blues took the lead just after the mid-way point of the half when a corner was flicked in by Zach Abbott.

A clever finish that was allowed to stand following confusion between the officials who had initially ruled the goal offside, before altering the decision.

Connor Murphy then forced the ‘keeper into a low stop before captain Abbott’s powerful header flew over the top.

Luka Salvatore doubled the hosts’ advantage as the interval drew nearer with a dinked finish that deceived the away ‘keeper and rolled into the back of the net.

Isaac Bush attempted an audacious lob almost immediately after the strike from Salvatore but it flew narrowly over.

Joe Ireland made it three on the stroke of half-time with another header that punished the away defence from a set-piece.

Bush went close again just before the hour-mark with a powerful header that flew just over the bar.

The number seven deservedly got his goal just before the mid-way point in the second period with a comfortable close-range finish after the ball was squared across the six-yard box

A dominant second-half performance sealed progression for the Blues who now await the draw for the First Round Proper.
