FAYC Report: AFC Fylde 2-0 Chester

Chester were eliminated from the FA Youth Cup at the Third Qualifying Round stage at Kellamergh Park against AFC Fylde.

Inside the opening quarter of an hour the hosts were awarded a controversial penalty when Billy Davies was adjudged to have fouled Charlie Markland inside the area.

Danny Ormerod stepped up and sent Davies the wrong way to give the home side the lead.

It was a game of few chances in blustery conditions making life difficult to create opportunities as the Coasters had the lead at the break.

That advantage was doubled on 57 minutes when Markland headed home from a free kick.

Fylde were reduced to ten men on the hour when Jesse Hailwood was shown a second yellow card for a late challenge on Mason Duff.

Mike Allcock’s side pressed on in the final half an hour and went close through Luca Boon and sub Tom Beswick, but the hosts held on for the win.
