George Glendon signs new one-year deal!

Chester FC are delighted to announce that Club Captain George Glendon has signed a new one-year deal with the Blues!

Glendon, who missed the entirety of the 2022/23 season during to his ACL injury, bounced back this term in productive fashion – scoring on 13 occasions – ending with 22 goal involvements in 47 matches.

The 29-year-old skipper has made a total of 139 appearances since arriving at the club back in September 2019.

George was named Captain of Chester FC back in 2020 and was named CFU Player of the Season for 2020/21.

Manager Calum McIntyre said: “Securing George for another season is hugely important for us.

“To have our leading goalscorer on board for the season ahead, having scored double figures from midfield last season, is really pleasing.”

“George had a really impressive campaign and it is worth remembering that this was after returning from a serious injury and without taking part in either of the last two pre-season campaigns.

“Playing George further forward has added a goalscoring midfielder to our ranks and this year I would expect for George to kick on even further from what he contributed last season.

“We want to make sure that we add some physicality into our midfield for the season ahead to allow players like George to play to their talent and show the best side of themselves.

“We are looking to add two holding midfield players to the group to compliment the obvious quality we already have in those central midfield areas.

“It is important we recognise what we have done well in recent seasons and maintain those levels at the same time as adding in areas that we need to improve to ensure we have that balance.

“Adding a physical presence and real out-and-out athleticism will be hugely important to improve our group.”

Great to have you staying, Glenno!
