Iwan Murray reaches 100 Chester FC appearances!

Iwan Murray became the latest player to reach the milestone of 100 Chester FC appearances yesterday!

The 24-year-old has featured for the Blues over two spells and becomes just the second of our academy graduates to reach the century after Harrison Burke since reformation.

From Bodelwyddan, Iwan caught the eye at youth level and went on to make his senior debut in September 2018. After an injury in the warm-up to Scott Burton prior to the Kidderminster game, Murray stepped in and grabbed his chance with both hands – winning a penalty within 10 minutes to set the Blues on their way to a 3-1 victory on an electric night at the Deva.

The Welshman scored three times in 10 starts, before moving on to link up with Calum at Runcorn Linnets in 2020, having a hugely successful time at the Apec Taxis Stadium, scoring 25 goals in 61 appearances.

The Blues boss was quick to bring Iwan back to CH1 with him in the summer of 2022, and ever since has been a dependable part of the Chester FC midfield unit.

His second spell has seen Murray evolve as a player; a disciplined man in the middle of the park that sets the tone for the Seals – his battling performances have often provided the platform for some crucial victories over the past few years.

And his impact within the squad, as if anyone needed reminding, shone through yesterday – central to and assisting the equaliser for Charlie Caton – as Murray came on to play a key part in our fightback.

He’s another academy success story that has provided goals, assists and reliability in midfield over the years.

We’re incredibly proud of him as a club and delighted that he continues to play such an important part within our club.

    Congratulations, Iwan!
