Jack Bainbridge speaks on Vice-Captaincy and Chorley test!
Chester FC midfielder Jack Bainbridge reflected on his start to life as vice captain and looked ahead to tomorrow’s clash with Chorley at Victory Park.
The 27-year-old reflected on last season’s disappointing defeat in Lancashire and how that has helped the squad prepare for tomorrow’s test.
“Looking at that game from the sidelines, I think we definitely should have won it,” he said.
“It got snatched out of our hands, so that game definitely kicks us on and motivates us for this one.
“It will be a very physical game. They are direct and are very good at what they do, so it will be a difficult one but I think we’ve got more than enough to win it.”
Jack also commented on how easy it has been to step into the role of vice-captain at the club alongside new club captain Declan Weeks.
“The lads are so good with or without me and Dec, so it makes it much easier,” said Jack.
“The most important thing for me is to support Dec, but the role has come at a good time in my career at the age of 27.
“I’m really looking forward to continuing with the role and pushing on this season.”
Fin Shrimpton slotted into the midfield three in seamless fashion during Saturday’s win over Peterborough Sports.
The 22-year-old joined from Scunthorpe United in the summer after a successful loan spell at Spennymoor Town.
Jack praised Fin for how quickly he has adapted to life in a Chester shirt.
“He has been brilliant so far,” he said.
“He came from Scunthorpe United so we obviously knew a little bit about him, but he is a really hard-working lad.
“He’s good on the ball, has the ability to score and can do a bit of everything. Fin deserves loads of praise.”
