MATCH PREVIEW | Blyth Spartans vs Chester

    It’s the longest away trip of the season for the Blues this weekend, as a trip to Northumberland to face Blyth Spartans beckons.

    Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley’s side will be looking to maintain their early season unbeaten start, with a win and a draw from their opening two games.

    At Curzon on Monday, the Blues were ruthless in a 3-0 victory. Despite a slightly shaky start in which Chris Sharp missed a golden chance for the hosts, Chester took their chances at the other end from Simon Grand, Anthony Dudley and John Pritchard.

    Following a goalless draw on the opening day against Spennymoor, the boys in Blue sit third in the table.

    Matty Hughes is in line to make his return following suspension, and Scott Burton might be in contention – although he will have to uproot Gary Roberts and Gary Stopforth; who received lavish praise for their performances in the heart of midfield on Monday night.

    On the other hand, Blyth are yet to get off the mark. Two games have seen two defeats for Alun Armstrong’s side. The Blyth Manager branded their first half display on Tuesday as ‘disgusting’ and ‘unacceptable’, as they lost 2-1 at home to Bradford Park Avenue.

    Former Blue Harry White was on target against them on the opening day, as Hereford defeated the Spartans 3-0 last weekend. They will be hoping for better at Croft Park tomorrow.

    The last time the two teams met was all the way back in October 2003, and an FA Cup tie which the Blues won 1-0. Daryl Clare got our goal that day.

    In fact, the only other two previous meetings were FA Trophy and FA Cup games, meaning this is a first ever league meeting between the teams.

    Please note, segregation is in place.

    Chester FC supporters will be entering the ground via the Plessey Road end, which is a covered standing terrace.

    Transfers to the main stand will be allowed at stewards discretion.

    However, Blues fans will be welcome in Blyth’s Social Club prior to and following the match.

    The Social Club is situated outside of the ground, at the opposite end of the ground to which Blues supporters will be housed.

    Ticket prices are as follows:

    Adult – £12

    65 years & above – £7

    11-16 years & Students with valid student ID – £5

    Up to 10 years ( accompanied by adult) – Free

    Transfer to Port of Blyth Stand – £2

    Supporters with registered disability will be included in the same price bracket as 65+, unless of course they are aged 11-16, when they will be charged the lower price.
