MATCH PREVIEW | Chester vs Dulwich Hamlet

It’s game three of the Chester FC pre-season schedule tonight, as the Blues return from Newquay to face National League South side Dulwich Hamlet.

A convincing 9-1 win at Mount Wise on Tuesday was a good workout for the team against Newquay AFC. Our fantastic hosts gave us a great week of friendly hospitality and a lot of enjoyment – topped off with the hard work the players were put through by our backroom staff.

Tonight we face a Dulwich side on a tour of their own! The NLS side face the Blues tonight and then Marine tomorrow, as they step up preparations for their second season in the sixth tier.

Gavin Rose’s side finished 14th last term. They were promoted on penalties in 2018 in a Play-Off Final victory over Hendon – their fourth successive season in the end of season picture after three years of heartbreak prior.

In March 2018, they were controvserially kicked out of their Champion Hill home ground, but took the fight to the owners and were back from exile by December.

Dom Vose made 33 appearances for the club last season, scoring one goal. He joined them after departing the Blues following the conclusion of the 2017/18 campaign. Vose could feature tonight, along with another former Blue in Christian Smith.

Numerous Blues players missed out with some slight knocks and ‘tightness’ during the week – some of them may not be risked this evening. Trialists are expected to continue in the starting XI.
