MATCH PREVIEW | Chester vs Witton Albion

After almost three weeks of waiting, Chester FC are finally back in action tonight at the Swansway Chester Stadium – hosting Evo-Stik Premier side Witton Albion in the Cheshire Senior Cup.

Nuneaton’s international call ups on the 13th, and York’s FA Cup game last Saturday meant the Blues have gone two Saturday’s without a game. The last game saw them crash out of the FA Cup to Dunston UTS, losing an incredible match 4-3.

Since then, Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley have lost forward Matty Hughes for possibly the whole season due to injury. Danny Livesey was sent off against Dunston but his suspension does not apply to this game and will be available for selection.

Witton sit in 19th place in the Evo-Stik Premier, but have has many as five games in hand on teams above them.

Perhaps our most memorable recent meeting was in December 2016. An FA Trophy First Round replay saw the Blues advance in incredible circumstances.

Witton went in front after Chester’s Blaine Hudson conceded a penalty inside the first SIX seconds of the match. It was ten against nine in the 86th minute in the Blues’ favour after three red cards (with a member of Witton’s backroom staff being sent to the stands as well) when late James Alabi and Elliott Durrell goals saw Chester nick the win 2-1.
