MATCH PREVIEW | Curzon Ashton vs Chester | National League North

September begins at the Tameside Stadium for the Blues tonight; as we look to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat.

A controversial 2-1 loss 48 hours ago at Spennymoor Town was a first loss of the season for Chester FC. Danny Livesey’s harsh red card was the talking point, after Akwasi Asante had put the Blues in front.

Curzon Ashton had a solid start to the season, but are now yet to win in four games. Sean Miller, who came through the Blues’ academy, and had a spell back at the Deva a year ago – is now atop the Curzon scoring charts with four goals this term.

It is understood Livesey’s red card suspension (which cannot be appealed because it was two bookable offences) does not kick in until Saturday, so he is expected to continue in the heart of the defence with Simon Grand. George Glendon made his debut in midfield on Saturday, and could start once more tonight. Chester’s first win of last season came in this fixture in August 2018. A convincing 3-0 victory saw Grand, Anthony Dudley and John Pritchard on the scoresheet.
