MATCH PREVIEW | Nuneaton Borough vs Chester
The play-off race is well and truly on as the season reaches an exciting climax! The Blues have six cup finals remaining – starting tomorrow.
An away game against the team in bottom place in the National League North represents a good chance for Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley’s side to make it four unbeaten tomorrow.
A goalless draw at the Swansway to end March was a good result on paper against the league leaders Chorley, but post match Johnson believed it may have been two points dropped. The sign of a strong side who are looking to hit top form at the perfect time.
Chester would actually relegate their hosts tomorrow if they avoid defeat. Nevertheless, Nuneaton were staring down the barrel last Saturday and responded in some style, thrasing FC United of Manchester 4-0 away from home.
The Blues settled back defence in the last two have yielded consecutive clean sheets – and will be looking for more of the same tomorrow as the quest to finish in the top seven picks up pace.
Earlier in the season, the Blues edged out tomorrow’s opponents with a 3-2 victory. A two goal advantage at the break came courtesy of the two Salford City loanees, Danny Livesey and Anthony Dudley. Dan Mooney added a stunning third on the hour mark, but the bottom side battled back. Carl Baker and Adam McGurk ensured it was a nervy finale, but the Blues hung on for the win.
Kick off is 3pm at Liberty Way. Come on you Blues!
