MATCH PREVIEW | Royston Town vs Chester | Buildbase FA Trophy

The FA Trophy returns tomorrow as the Blues look to advance to the last 16 of the competition.

However, their game against Bet Victor Southern Premier Central Division side Royston Town will be far from easy. The Crows moved up to third in the table with a 2-1 victory at home to Redditch United this week.

In the last round, tomorrow’s opponents advanced with a very impressive 2-0 win over National League side Boreham Wood whilst Chester beat Royston’s division rivals Hednesford Town in a replay after an initial 0-0 away draw at Keys Park. Brad Jackson and Akwasi Asante were on the scoresheet in the victory.

2020 has started very well for the Blues. Three victories and not a single goal conceded – against Southport, Guiseley and Stockport Town.

Saturday’s win in Yorkshire was our first win at Nethermoor against the Lions – but came at a cost as striker George Waring picked up a bad knock to the face late on in the game. He is out of tomorrow’s game.

£5,250 is on offer for the winners of this tie, as well as a chance for Chester to equal their best ever run in this competition since reformation.

Should the game be drawn after 90 minutes, a replay will take place at the 1885 Arena this Tuesday (14th Jan) with kick off at 7.45pm.
