Match Preview: Scarborough Athletic (h)
It’s two games in 48 hours for the Seals, as we host Scarborough Athletic on Bank Holiday Monday.
We were more then good value for our point on Saturday, as the spoils were shared with Alfreton at North Street for the fourth consecutive campaign.
Kurt Willoughby got his first goal in his second spell with the Blues, as he deliciously picked out the top corner in customary fashion.
Alfreton responded with a goal either side of the interval, but Charlie Caton smashed in his second goal in as many games to ensure the Seals didn’t return to CH1 empty-handed.
THE OPPOSITION
Scarborough are currently unbeaten after four games this campaign and find themselves second in the league standings.
After a point away at Radcliffe, Jonathan Greening’s side have tasted victory in each of their last three games
They brushed aside Rushall Olympic, before coming from behind to snatch a late win away at Chorley. They carried that momentum into Saturday’s game at home to Farsley Celtic , with another late goal to collect ten points out of a possible twelve.
THE GAFFER
Jonathan Greening has been with the Seadogs for over three years now and the former West Bromwich Albion midfielder has excelled in his first management role.
During his tenure, Greening has transformed Scarborough into an established National League North outfit. In his first season in charge, he guided the Yorkshire based club to promotion from the Northern Premier Division via the playoffs.
The following campaign, Scarborough missed out on the playoffs on goal difference, with seventh placed Gloucester City narrowing edging them out due to scoring one goal more and one less.
As a player, Greening made almost 200 appearances for West Brom and almost a century of appearances for Middlesbrough.
Arguably his biggest claim to fame was his inclusion in Manchester United’s Champions League winning squad in 1999, even making the bench in the final.
ONE TO WATCH
Dominic Tear is in prolific form and is currently the top goalscorer in the division with four goals in three games.
Three of those came on the opening day against newly promoted Radcliffe, with his hattrick almost earning his team victory, but former Chester midfielder Anthony Dudley had other ideas and equalised in stoppage time.
The right winger came through the academy system at Huddersfield Town and was the recipient of the Terriers’ Academy Player of the Year award in 2018.
Bizarrely, the 24 year old has already beaten his goal tally from last term, in 42 less games.

Inside the ground, the Kiosks will be serving their wider variety of pies during the new campaign, including Cottage Pies!
The Club Shop will be open from 1.30pm and some of our new season Hope + Glory training wear will be able to purchase – keep your eyes peeled!
