Everyone at Chester Football Club would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas!

The last 12 months have certainly presented significant challenges for our Club and the way that everyone, without exception, has come together to ensure that we are here playing football now is a credit to the founding principles of the Club that came about a decade ago.

It wouldn’t be possible to individually credit every volunteer, supporter and employee – but the hard work which has been undertaken to support the Club and within the Community has not gone unnoticed. That is what makes fan ownership and this club in particular so special.

Every Chester FC supporter should be proud of the efforts of everyone associated with the Club in the last 12 months in that, both on and off the pitch, we are a credit to the City of Chester.

As a Club we have come under the spotlight in the national media given our status as supporter owned during a pandemic. Any Football Club should always remain part of its local community and, whilst every Club strives for success on the pitch, what cannot be lost are the right values and cultures off it.

The constant challenge for fan ownership is the ability to generate enough revenue to compete with the big budgets thrown around by Clubs operating in an unsustainable manner. However, initiatives launched this year such as Boost the Budget and a revised commercial strategy with a focus on digital innovation and engagement will hopefully bridge this gap.

What happens in the coming months remains a significant unknown given the uncertainty as to how COVID-19 will impact on Football at our level and our ability to host football with meaningful attendances which will generate significant levels of income – but we all remain committed to ensuring the long-term sustainability and will not gamble the long-term security of the Club on short-term success.

We want to wish you all a safe and enjoyable Christmas at the end of this wretched year. We have a big game tomorrow at AFC Telford and, whilst you can’t be there with us, we know you’ll be cheering us on wherever you are.

We’re all In It Together, and you have certainly all shown that this year. Thank you for your unwavering support and we hope to see you soon. Up the Seals and Merry Christmas!

From everyone at Chester Football Club.
