Mike McLoughlin selected as Community Captain!
Mike McLoughlin has been chosen as Chester FC Community Trust’s Community Captain for his hard work and commitment as part of the Premier League’s More Than A Game campaign.
Mike has been recognised for his exceptional work within the community, managing the day-to-day operations at King George V Community Sports Hub in Blacon to ensure the facility is well kept and game ready for many grassroots football teams and other groups across the Chester area.
Mike, who has worked for the Community Trust since 2022, was presented with a commemorative plaque, pennant and armband. Coaching staff from Chester FC including Colin Woodthorpe and Mike Allcock alongside first team player Harrison Burke were proud to present Mike with his award. Mike also supports Chester FC first team both at home and away fixtures and is a valuable asset to the football club.
Community Trust CEO Jim Green said: “Mike epitomises everything you would want in a teammate and is richly deserving of the honour of Community Captain.
“His can-do attitude, positive approach and helpfulness is key to the success of the sports hub and he is regularly commended by users of the facility.”
Mike is a fantastic facilities manager; he takes pride in his work and no job is ever too big. He has an excellent rapport with his colleagues as well as the local football teams and groups who visit King George V Community Sports Hub; including players, participants, coaches and parents.
Mike is a worthy recipient of this award and a really valued member of our team, who makes a huge contribution to our work supporting local groups and teams within the community of Blacon and wider Chester area.
The Premier League invests in community projects run by 164 professional and non-league clubs, supporting children and young people through focused initiatives and programmes targeting local need. King George V Community Sports Hub welcomes hundreds of children and young people every month and is a fantastic facility for communities in Blacon and Chester.
Community Captain Mike, for the 2024 Premier League’s More Than A Game campaign, said: “I’m thrilled to have been awarded this year’s Community Captain. I love working for both Chester FC and Chester FC Community Trust, my passion is football and being able to support others in the beautiful game is something I am proud of. I enjoy meeting new people and developing relationships with regular users of the sports hub. I want to ensure the facility is at its best when in use to maintain our professional reputation within the community.”
Chester FC Community Trust is supported by the Premier League to run a vast range of programmes including Wildcats Girls Football, Girls Emerging Talent Centre, Boys and Girls Player Development Centre, Goalkeeping Academy, Junior PAN Disability and Mini Kickers which are helping 200 children and young people in Chester take part in football every week.
