“More intensity” – Connor Woods speaks after Linnets victory!
Blues forward Connor Woods spoke on the importance of pre-season after our 2-1 victory over Runcorn Linnets.
The 27-year-old netted the winning goal at the APEC Taxis Stadium as he swivelled inside the box and volleyed with power into the top corner.
Oskar Rosenblatt opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark with a clever finish before the Linnets levelled shortly after courtesy of a close-range effort from Scott Bakkor.
Woods felt that the intensity of the squad stepped up from Saturday’s defeat at Bury.
“I think we knew as a team we needed more intensity in how we were playing and what we were trying to do,” he said
“I feel like we did more things right as a collective.”
The former Warrington Town man also commented on the importance of his first full pre-season as a Chester player.
He said: “I think it’s just getting minutes back in the legs, getting back used to things, what we should be doing, and getting ready for the season.
“I’m looking forward to a full pre-season, it will be crucial to connect the team and how we want to play.”
Woods also looked ahead to a first home game back at the Deva Stadium against Salford City on Saturday.
“I’m looking forward to seeing all the fans again, it should be a great day,” he said.
“It will be a hard game against a good team and a different kind of test to what we have faced so far.”
We can’t wait to see you all at the Deva on Saturday. UTS!
