Over £5,000 raised for Maddie and Ava by the Blacon Seals!
The Blacon Seals have raised more than £5,000 after completing their 23-mile walk to the New Year’s Day game against Warrington Town in support of Maddie and Ava, two special girls and their families.
Setting off from the Leap76 Stadium at 4.30am, the group – including 10-year-old Chester fan Amy Littler – walked through Helsby, with a stop at the Railway pub for breakfast, Frodsham, Preston Brook and Daresbury, before arriving at Cantilever Park shortly before 2pm.
Supporters of both clubs generously donated to a bucket collection at the match, and Warrington Town kindly offered to give all proceeds from sales of the matchday programme to the fund, which will make a huge difference to Maddie, Ava and their families.
Meet Maddie: Maddie, a resilient 2-year-old from Warrington, is battling stage 4 Wilms tumour. Despite enduring chemotherapy, surgeries, and facing complications, Maddie’s spirit shines. Her family, including two sisters, has been profoundly impacted, both emotionally and financially.
Meet Ava: Ava, another brave 2-year-old, from Chester, is confronting a glioblastoma tumour. Through surgeries, radiotherapy, and setbacks, Ava’s resilience and infectious smile inspire everyone around her. Now, her family aims to gather funds for an experimental immunotherapy treatment, a beacon of hope they cannot afford alone.
