Connell’s return to Chester FC caught the eye in July 2024 after his departure from EFL League Two side Notts County. Rawlinson returned to the club that he made his professional debut for as a substitute against Oxford United in 2009. After making three first-team appearances for the Blues he moved to The New Saints, where he made 180 appearances in a spell which saw him pick up seven straight Welsh Premier League medals. Rawlinson moved back to the English leagues in 2018 when he signed for Port Vale. He featured 36 times for the Valiants as they finished 20th in League Two. A vastly experienced defender, Connell’s most recent spell saw him turn out 153 times for Notts County, both in the National League and League Two. Rawlinson has promotion on his repertoire – helping the Magpies to promotion back to the Football League in 2023 after a play-off final victory over Chesterfield.
