The experienced Roberts returned to the Deva in May 2019 after leaving Wrexham following the conclusion of the 2018/19 campaign. The move came 12 years on from Roberts making his senior debut at Chester. The versatile defender and midfielder is a product of the Chester City Academy and made his debut at the Deva in 2007. From Liverpool, Roberts went on to make 81 appearances for City, scoring seven goals. The 29-year-old then moved on to make over 100 appearances at Cambridge United and at FC Halifax Town before joining Wrexham for an undisclosed fee in 2017. From 2022/23 onwards, Roberts combined his playing duties with a role as physio with the club after completing his degree. Kev completed his 200th Chester FC appearance in March 2025 alongside club captain Declan Weeks, who also featured for the 200th time in a 3-2 defeat to Chorley.
