Exciting forward Goodson signed for the Blues in June 2023. He penned a one year deal at the Deva Stadium after departing Altrincham at the end of the previous campaign.

The Robins had paid an undisclosed fee for his services in August 2022 after his 21 goals for Ilkeston Town the previous season saw them crowned Champions of the Northern Premier League (Midlands) Division. Goodson started his career in Derby County’s Academy, before moving on to Long Eaton United where he scored 16 times in 23 appearances.

He would then move on to Basford United, notching 29 goals across two seasons which also included a spell at Newark. In 2022/23, Goodson had spells on loan at fellow National League North clubs Boston United and Spennymoor Town.

He would make a cup impact for the Robins with a last-minute equaliser in the FA Trophy against Wrexham, before then scoring in the penalty shootout as Alty progressed. Zak also notched a late leveller from the spot in their 2-2 draw with Torquay United in April 2023.
