PREVIEW | Altrincham vs Chester – Senior Cup
Tonight the Blues are in Cheshire Senior Cup action – with a trip to Altrincham on the agenda.
It is Chester’s first taste of this competition this season – and also for Marcus Bignot. Last season in this Cup, the Swansway Chester Stadium witnessed an entertaining game against Hyde where the Blues bowed out in Round One.
It was a youthful side Jon McCarthy fielded back in January 2017. Matty Waters opened the scoring with a sublime lob from outside the area – before James Jones doubled the advantage on the hour mark.
However, quickfire goals from Peter Boyle and Jamal Branker took the game to extra time. Nathan Brown restored the Blues advantage – before Oliver Ford quickly drew the game back level. The match went to penalties – and Hyde clinched it 5-4.
Chester are making their second visit to the J.Davidson Stadium this season – having been beaten here in Pre-Season 3-2.
